Summer Programs in Social Sciences

Highlights: The session in Tartu will take place in the premises of Tartu University main campus. Tartu is a typical university town with a population of around 100,000. University of Tartu is the largest employer of the city. Established in 1632 (the same year as Harvard), University of Tartu is the largest public academic institution in Estonia and has high academic reputation in Europe and around the world. During each summer, there are a lot of different activities organized in Tartu, which gives various possibilities for the spending of the free time. Students will be accommodated in the university's academic hostel, which is within a short walking distance from the building where the lectures will take place.

The session in Parnu will take place in the premises of University of Tartu Parnu College. The College was established in 1996 as University of Tartu first regional college. It combines the advantages of a large science-oriented university with the idyllic atmosphere of an old town and active summer-resort. Students will be accommodated in academic or tourist hostels, which are in the vicinity of the academic buildings.

The session in Tallinn will take place in the premises of English College, which are located at the very center of the city. Tallinn is the capital city of Estonia with the population of around 400,000 and 3 million tourist visitors each year. It is one of the best retained medieval European towns, with its web of winding cobblestone streets, which developed in the 11th to 15th centuries, and is preserved nearly in its entirety. Tallinn has been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Tallinn has attained fame and a powerful role in the Baltic Sea area through its membership in the Hansa League. Students will be accommodated in Tallinn University of Technology academic hostel, which is within a short drive from the city center and easily accessible with public transportation.

In each location students have access to the academic library and computer facilities.
