Abroadco's study abroad program in Nanjing allows students to study Chinese language at all levels, as well as take electives in English in anthropology, business, and political science. You will live and study in Nanjing, one of China's most important cultural and economic centers. Academics Students will attend the Yangtze International Study Abroad (YISA) program based at Nanjing Normal University. The University of Arizona provides academic oversight for the program, approves all teaching faculty, and issues the official transcript for Abroadco students. Students will earn 12-18 credits for semester sessions and 6-8 credits for the summer session. Students can select from any of the courses offered during each session. We help you with every aspect of planning your experience, including course selection, travel planning, working with your home institution, and providing you with an orientation on living and studying abroad. You will be met at the airport in Shanghai for orientation in Shanghai and Nanjing. Throughout your program, you'll enjoy Abroadco's many activities and excursions. Activities include visiting the Confucius Temple, the Nanjing Museum, and learning about the wonderful cuisine of Nanjing. Excursions visit such destinations as Beijing and the Great Wall, Chengdu and the Panda Center, the site of the Peking Man discovery, and the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses in Xian. Once your program has ended, we will continue to work with you as you transfer your credits to your home institution and readjust to life at home. Nanjing Nanjing, China (population 6.4 million) is located in the Jiangsu Provence, 300 km inland from Shanghai and 1200 km south of Beijing. Situated on the banks of the Yangtze River, Nanjing is surrounded by the Ningzheng Ridge on the remaining sides. Nanjing is important both in a historic sense and also as one of China's wealthiest and most economically developed cities. Nanjing traces its history back more than 2,500 years and is known as the capital city of six dynasties in China's history. A cultural city, Nanjing is home to many historic and cultural sights, monuments, museums, and memorials. Some of these include the Confucius Temple, Nanjing Museum, the mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, and the imperial tomb of the first Ming Emporer, Zhu Yuanzhang.
