Description: The University of Essex, located in the city of Colchester, received its Royal Charter in 1965 and quickly earned a reputation for having a friendly, welcoming academic atmosphere. The university offers a lively international community of students from over 100 nations.

Essex has a modern campus with numerous facilities for students, including banks, snack bars, a post office, pubs, grocery stores and a student library with long, convenient hours. The university has 17 teaching departments which are organized into five schools of study. Many students take advantage of the university's top-ranked programs in Economics, Sociology, Politics and Law.
