IFSA-Butler at the University of East Anglia
England
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: TBA
Description:
The University of East Anglia offers the best of both worlds to students from throughout the U.K. and around the world. The university combines a modern, progressive atmosphere with a traditional respect for high academic achievement. Founded in 1963, UEA's campus is new but is located in Norwich, an ancient city which boasts a Norman castle and hundreds of medeival buildings. Recently voted one of Britain's top cities for quality of life and prosperity, Norwich history is known to go back to Saxon times, and a major Roman settlement recently was discovered nearby. The UEA campus, just three miles from the center of Norwich, is surrounded by 270 acres of parks and woods. UEA's 16 Schools of Study offer a wide range of subjects for its 8,500 students. The university also places much emphasis on small-group teaching with its seminar/tutorial system. This system allows students to experience both lecture environments and small group meetings with instructors. Among the most popular subjects for students are Art History, Environmental Science, Film/TV studies, Music and History. In addition, UEA's Creative Writing program is the highest-ranked in Europe. The program regularly invites some of the world's best novelists and writers to serve as guest speakers and lecturers.
