Description: Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world.

IES offers intensive beginning Chinese in the summer for students who are beginning their study of the language. Depending upon the background of the student group, IES will also offer as needed an intensive advanced beginning and an intermediate class for students who have already studied Chinese for one college semester or year or the equivalent. To complement classroom instruction, IES Beijing will arrange visits to a Chinese village, Buddhist temples, and museums in and around Beijing and Chengde as time permits.

Highlights:
* Intensive Mandarin Chinese language instruction for students with little or no Chinese.
* Located on the campus of Beiwai, a university established to train China's diplomats and foreign service personnel.
* Field trips to places of historical and cultural interest such as the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City.
* A unique two-location program with classes in Beijing and Chengde, the imperial summer capital of the Manchus.
* Accommodations in single rooms in a newly-built residence hall on the campus of Beiwai.
* Students can witness the excitement and fanfare prior to the commencement of the Beijing 2000 Summer Olympics.

    Cost Include Description:
    Tuition, housing, orientation, international health insurance, and visa processing. Students completing the summer program and continuing in the fall or full-year IES Beijing program receive a 1,000 USD fee reduction on the fall or full-year program.
