Highlights: Some of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames, The Chilterns and the Berkshire Downs, are within easy reach. Towns and villages on the Thames from Oxford through Wallingford, Goring and Sonning to Henley-on-Thames and Windsor provide pleasant afternoons out. The long distance Ridgeway Path runs along the Downs and Chilterns, and the countryside around Reading has many inns with good food. London is easily reached from Reading, in less than half an hour, and the concert halls, theatres, art galleries and other attractions of the capital are readily available to students.
