Croatian Study and Cultural Immersion in Dubrovnik
Croatia
Term: Summer
Dates: please contact us
Description:
The school is located in a beautiful charming old building which has been totally renovated by the University of Zagreb. Our school is centrally located within in its own grounds (near the Imperial Hotel) and is only 5 minutes walking distance towards Lapad from the west entrance/gate to the old city (called Vrata od Pila). The school offers good facilities including: large classrooms, fantastic library, teaching materials including audiocassettes, video materials, lecture rooms and is fully air-conditioned (very unusual for Croatia). Teachers hold a university degree in teaching Croatian as a foreign language to foreign students and the school has a good mix of international students from around the world. The beach, harbor, cafes, bars and all facilities are only a short walk away.
Highlights:
The old Mediterranean City of Dubrovnik is situated in the very south of the Republic of Croatia. With a population of nearly 60,000 inhabits, Dubrovnik is rich in cultural and historical monuments and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Founded 1300 years ago, Dubrovnik's appeal lies in the old town of Stari Grad, with its marble-paved squares, steep cobbled streets, tall houses, convents, churches, palaces, fountains and museums, all cut from the same light-colored stone. The Placa, Dubrovnik's wonderful pedestrian promenade, runs from the city bus stop outside Pile Gate to the clock tower at the other end of town. Located on the coast, there is a wealth of contrast with small bays, beaches, steep cliffs and densely wooded islands. There is a rich variety of Flora including groves of cypress, pine, olive, palms, agava, cactus as well as vineyards and lemon and orange plantations - together they create an unique atmosphere.
