Description: The school was founded in 1972 and has since grown into a major centre for language teaching, teacher training and related activities. There are three main areas of activity in the school:

1) Teaching Spanish to students from all over the world;
2) Teaching other languages (English, German, and French) to the local population;
3) Training teachers of Spanish and English. The school currently provides language instruction to around 1,200 local people studying English, German or French, so there is plenty of opportunity for students of Spanish to meet native Spanish speakers, make friends and improve their fluency outside the classroom, in the bar, at social events, etc.

International House Palma has recently moved into a large, elegant building in the very center of the old city, on the Plaza del Cort, immediately opposite the city hall. The Plaza del Cort is one of the cities oldest, busiest and most attractive squares. Apart from the elegance and grandeur of its buildings, the square also contains an extraordinarily beautiful olive tree, which is said to be several centuries old.

IH Palma occupies one of the most prestigious buildings on the square. The school has its own street level entrance with the main reception area and from where students can take a lift or the stairs up. The school occupies all 4 floors of the building and has 20 air-conditioned classrooms, as well as a number of offices, a social area where students can relax and socialize and a area with computers linked to Internet.

About Mallorca

Set in a beautiful natural bay, Palma has been the capital of Mallorca for over a thousand years. It was already a prosperous city when it formed part of the Moorish empire and James I is supposed to have described it as the most beautiful city he had ever seen after he conquered the city in 1229.

Modern Palma is a bustling city with a population of just over 300,000. The city has an extraordinarily beautiful gothic quarter and many fine monuments and squares. The principle attraction is the golden toned cathedral, which was built over a 300-year period following the conquest and still dominates skyline overlooking the harbour. Modern Palma is also a cosmopolitan city with a lively arts scene and nightlife to suit any taste.
