Summer Law Study in Ireland
Ireland
Term: Summer
Dates: May 18 - June 12
Description:
The University of Missouri - Kansas City and Southern Illinois University Schools of Law are proud to offer this great and exciting opportunity for students to study law abroad over a four week period and offer both an opportunity to learn and to travel for 6.0 hours of ABA-approved credit. There are no evening classes. The curriculum features classes and discussions scheduled primarily in the morning coupled with field trips to legal institutions and tours to cultural and historic sites in the afternoon. Field trips are an integral part of the academic program and require mandatory attendance. There will be opportunities for informal exchanges with Irish professors, lawyers, judges, government officials and university students. Cultural and historic tours are also included in the package price, but tour attendance is not required for academic credit. Participants will be housed in Harbour Lodge cottages in Dingle; Corrib Village in Galway; and in Merville Apartments, UCD Village, Dublin. The facilities are variously configured to sleep from three to four persons per unit. Each apartment features private bedrooms, a bathroom/shower, common living area and fully equipped kitchen to permit self-catering. The Dingle Cottages also include a microwave and TV. The University facilities are modern and comparable to or better than most dormitories on U.S. campuses. The usual range of food services, shops, pay phones, faxes and postal services are readily available. Commercial transportation to the central city is convenient and reasonably priced at both urban locations. Classes are conducted within easy walking distance. Students are responsible for securing their own accommodations during the 4-day, 3 night summer break. Registration is open to all U.S. and Foreign law/law graduate students in good standing. Acceptance is based on a first-paid, first-reserved basis subject to space limitations thereafter applicants will be placed on a waiting list with preference given to early applicants. Students who do not attend the University of Missouri must submit a letter of good standing from their law school registrar. Students should consult their home schools about transfer of credits and grading requirements for transfer of credits.
