Jerusalem - sacred city and modern metropolis, is one of the world's most enchanting cities, where one encounters almost simultaneously the ancient, the medieval, and the modern. To experience Jerusalem central in different ways to Jews, Christians, and Muslims is to experience history in all its complexity. At the same time, Jerusalem is about more than history and conflict; it is pulsing with all the chaotic vibrancy of a great modern city. This program is ideal for students who would like to study ancient and modern Jewish history in Jerusalem, broaden their perspectives on global politics and the creation of national narratives, and spend a summer getting to know one of the Middle Easts most beautiful cities.

The cost of the program is 6,000 USD, plus a nonrefundable 50 USD application fee. In addition, students are responsible for a health insurance fee (approximately 150 USD; waived if students have US insurance that provides coverage outside the United States) and their transportation to and from Israel. The program fee covers the following:- tuition - room and some meals - access to libraries and computer services at Hebrew University - access to Hebrew University Health Services - course materials (other than books) - excursions (including meals when appropriate)

Harvard Summer School Study Abroad Programs's Mission Statement: The Harvard Summer School makes Harvard's academic resources a distinguished faculty, well-equipped laboratories, fine museums, and a world-class university library available to men and women of many ages, backgrounds, and nationalities through an intensive summer session of liberal arts courses in Cambridge and overseas. Students from many Harvard schools take advantage of the breadth of summer course offerings to meet requirements for concentrations and degree programs, and to create more flexibility within their term-time academic program. Harvard graduate students from abroad can work on refining their English language skills, and Harvard College students take advantage of the summer session to expand their cultural, social, and intellectual horizons by studying abroad.
