Choose between our 4 week Summer Exploration High School Program (no previous language experience required) or, our Month Immersion program (6 months of Japanese language study required) to improve your conversational Japanese skills.

Month Immersion:
The Month Immersion program in Japan is like a shortened academic year program. Students attend a local Japanese high school while living with a host family and experiencing the Japanese way of life firsthand. The host family experience is a key component of this program and enables participants to gain a unique perspective into Japanese culture while providing invaluable language contact with native Japanese speakers.

Cultural Exploration:
Spend the summer in Tokyo! Discover the unique blend of old and new and traditional and modern in present day Japan. Visit the museum dedicated to your favorite Anime or Manga, see the Buddhist temples of Kamakura, and take Japanese language classes.

The Intrax Summer Cultural Exploration program in Tokyo is ideal for students who want to learn or improve their Japanese while exploring the Tokyo area. This program includes three weeks of intensive Japanese in Tokyo and one week of practical Japanese in Kyoto, all accommodation, along with afternoon and weekend cultural activities.

Program Requirements:

* No language requirement for Cultural Exploration program.
* Month Immersion program requires 6 months of Japanese language study.
* 15-18 years old.
* Motivated students with a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4 point scale.
* Mature, flexible, open-minded, and able to adapt to living with a host family.
* Eager for the academic challenge of studying in a foreign school.
* US Citizen/Resident- living in the US.

Highlights: On the Summer Exploration program you'll live in a dorm and attend language classes in the morning, enjoy activities in the afternoon, and explore Japan through fun weekend excursions. On the Month Immersion program you'll live with a host family and attend a local high school.

Scholarships are Available. Intrax Study Abroad offers several High School scholarships with the support of our partners. We also encourage students to help pay for their Study Abroad program by fundraising a portion of their program fees. Youth Leader Scholarship: Awards of $200 to $1,000 are granted to high school study abroad applicants on the basis of academic merit, extracurricular involvement and financial need. Preference will be given to students who are involved in community service and have demonstrated their commitment to studying abroad by raising funds to help cover their high school study abroad program fees.
