AustraLearn and Auckland University of Technology (AUT)
New Zealand
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: Feb-June and/or July-Nov
Description:
AUT is a new kind of University, leading the way with its contemporary style of practice-based scholarship. The University has reinterpreted the character of the older universities, but retains at its core a close relationship between research and teaching. Around this we build our distinctive approach to teaching and learning our focus on the application of knowledge. This makes AUT study abroad students highly responsive to the needs of the modern, fast-changing and multi-skilled work place. We have two well-positioned campuses - Wellesley in the center of Auckland city and Akoranga across the Auckland Harbor Bridge. Auckland is New Zealand 's largest and most cosmopolitan city with a population of 1.2 million - 27% born in other countries. The urban area is twice the size of London and offers entertainment, nightlife and shopping. The temperate climate encourages an outdoor lifestyle and there is easy access to surf beaches, ski fields and mountains.
Highlights:
The International Student Support team and Campus Life organize social events throughout the year to make the AUT experience rewarding and enjoyable. These include horseback riding, caving, harbor cruises, barbeques, beach activities, Noho Marae (a weekend in a traditional Maori setting), ski trips, a weekend in Rotorua, Auckland day trips, concerts, and an end of semester lunch.
