Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring

Description:
The Medical Practice & Policy program is designed for students with a serious, documented interest in medicine and the required science background. It offers you: * A unique clinical course for pre-med students, not available in the US * Valuable hands on experience such as patient cases and clinical lab exercises * Acknowledging the scientific and experimental side of medicine * Improved chances of getting into the medical school of your choice Students enrolled in the Medical Practice & Policy program will take the core course, Human Health and Disease: A Clinical Approach, and participate in two course-integrated study tours. Beyond the core course, students may select any combination of elective courses from the DIS curriculum, barring scheduling conflicts. The Human Health & Disease core course is taught by senior physicians at local university hospitals. Students have access to the Laboratory for Clinical Skills, in which they perform physical examinations and small procedures on phantoms.
Highlights:
Study tours include a short regional study tour in Denmark, southern Sweden or northern Germany early in the semester and a longer European study tour to Berlin, Germany, and Poznan, Poland, during the first week of the three-week midterm study tour and travel break. The study tours explore the history of medicine at one of Europe's oldest and largest university hospitals and exposes students to medical practice in a pediatric clinic and to surgical pathology methods at a hospital.
