Description:
The lagoon city Venice, la Serenissima, has for centuries been the cultural and commercial nexus of eastern and western Europe. The multidisciplinary eight-week program in Venice brings together students and faculty from Harvard and Ca Foscari University of Venice. The program offers a range of courses in the humanities, and natural and social sciences, many designed to expand students understanding of Venice as a city with a unique history and environment. Italian students learn alongside Harvard students' so that all may develop a deeper knowledge of the city and of each other. Students are encouraged to pursue projects on the culture, art, and history of the city. For example, they may use Venice as a case study for the coexistence of different religious traditions, or they may focus on Venice's former position as Queen of the Adriatic. Noncredit Italian language instruction as well as workshops on Venetian art- and craft-forms are also part of the program.

Cost Include Description:
The cost of the program is 7,350 USD, plus a nonrefundable 50 USD application fee. In addition, students are responsible for a health insurance fee (approximately 165 USD; waived if students have US insurance that provides coverage outside the United States) and for transportation to and from Venice. The program fee covers the following:- tuition - room and some meals - all scheduled excursions and extracurricular activities

Harvard graduate students from abroad can work on refining their English language skills, and Harvard College students take advantage of the summer session to expand their cultural, social, and intellectual horizons by studying abroad.
