Study in Spain, Madrid
Spain
Term: Academic Year, Spring
Dates: AY: Late Aug - Late June; Spring: Late Jan - Late June
Description:
With both flavors of Europe and Africa, Spain offers a unique flavor, and Madrid, home to about 4 million, is both a historically rich city as well as a modern metropolis. Home to the world famous Prado Museum and a variety of parks and palaces and Madrid's colorful flea market, participants will always have something to do. Several extended periods of vacation throughout the year, the excellent location of Madrid in the center of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as convenient public transportation allow students to travel outside of Madrid on their own. While living a modern and metropolitan European city, program participants will take courses with both Spanish and students from the U.S. while embarking on program-organized excursions to popular locations and engaging in the Spanish culture.
Highlights:
Students are assisted in working out their class schedule which will be a combination of the Reunidas and Complutense courses. The Reunidas courses cover a variety of topics and are specially designed for students from U.S. universities. The Complutense course offerings span a full range of depth and breadth and participants take these regular university courses alongside Spanish students. Participants must take a minimum of one Complutense course in the fall and two in the spring semester. As part of the program, students receive a membership in the Circulo de Bellas Artes, a cultural center in downtown Madrid that offers concerts, shows and lectures. Sports clubs, volunteer opportunities, and Madrid's active nightlife will keep students busy and involved. Additionally, on-site program staff is available to assist participants throughout the year.
