Study in Italy, Florence

  Italy
  • Florence:
  • Florence

Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: AY: Early Sept - Late April, Fall: Early Sept - Mid Dec. Spring: Early Jan. - Late April

Description: On this program, students will live and study at the Villa Corsi-Salviati which is located about 45 minutes from downtown Florence by bus and is a national registered monument that dates from the sixteenth century. The villa houses computer labs, a library, and volleyball and tennis courts.

Students will choose a minimum of four courses, including a required Italian language course; each course is worth four credits. Eight to ten courses will be offered each semester with varying topics that may include history, art history, Medieval and Renaissance Florence and Tuscany, the European Union and other courses, all of which are taught in English by Florentine or US faculty.

Highlights: A flourishing city with half a million people, Florence offers an array of enjoyable cultural opportunities throughout the year. As a major center for the arts, literature, and scholarship since the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Florence features some of the world's greatest art, architecture and libraries. While living in one of the great houses of Italy and being able to easily access the surrounding Tuscan countryside, on-site program staff provides assistance to participants and arrange special lectures, symposia, and program excursions within Florence and to other Italian cities.
