Description: As the "heart of Europe," Prague provides an ideal location for the study of European art and political history in the context of the Holy Roman Empire. Prague is also particularly well suited for the examination of the transition from east-to-west and cross-cultural exchange in Europe.

Highlights: Prague is noted for its art and architecture, which fluidly incorporates styles from the Romanesque period through the present. It is an important center of music, literature, theater, and commerce. Historically, it represents either the western-most reaches of the Slavs or the eastern-most reach of western influence since Charlemagne. The KIIS program in Prague lasts five weeks and is open to students of sophomore and higher status who are in good academic standing. Students may register for one or two courses (3 credit hours each). Organized excursions include Prague castle, the Old Jewish cemetery, the Old-New Synagogue of Josefov, the Nazi concentration camp in Terezin, and southern Bohemia.

Kentucky Institute for International Studies's Mission Statement: The Kentucky Institute for International Studies is a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to providing quality international education. KIIS is founded on the conviction that an international experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible.
