Term: Spring
Description:
Duke University, in cooperation with Yunnan Normal University in Kunming, will offer its annual semester program of study in China in spring 2010. The program offers intensive Chinese language study and two English-language content classes focusing on Chinese history and culture. Language classes are taught by local faculty who are selected by the Duke Study in China Program. An experienced faculty member from the United States coordinates the program in China. Duke awards credit for four semester courses, with the equivalent of sixteen semester credit hours, for the spring term. Please check with your university to see if these credits will be accepted. There is a language pledge, optional extracurricular activities, day excursions on weekends, a week-long trip to the Lijiang area mid-semester and an opportunity for independent travel during the one-week spring break. Homestay or Chinese roommate options are available or you may room with another international student.

Cost Include Description:
The cost of the program covers tuition, course materials (including textbooks), extracurricular activities, mid-semester travel, excursions, meals and lodging in China. International airfare and visa costs are not included. A one-time transcript fee of USD 40.00 is charged to non-Duke students for an unlimited number of transcripts. The Chinese roommate option has an additional fee.

Applications are welcome from degree-seeking students at all accredited colleges and universities in the US and Canada who have completed the equivalent of one year of Chinese language study by the commencement of the program.
