The Undergraduate Certificate Programme is an interdisciplinary non-degree undergraduate programme for both exchange students and independent students with at least two years of academic background in relevant fields. All undergraduate certificate students receive a transcript upon request stating the courses they have registered for and the credits and grades obtained for these courses. Fee-paying undergraduate certificate students who have completed a full academic year (ten months/60 EC credits) can receive an official Universiteit van Amsterdam undergraduate certificate upon request. - Asian Societies and Cultures - Conflict, Cultural Diversity and the Law - Culture and Modernity - Development and Planning - Dutch Society and Culture - Ethnicity, Migration and Nationalism - European Society and Culture - Gender, Sexuality and Society - International Relations and Globalisation - Media, Communication and Film - Politics, Governance and Democracy Undergraduate certificate students can study at the ISHSS for a period of one or two semesters. A stay of two semesters is recommended, however, in order to allow the student time to get to know the Dutch culture, Amsterdam, and to be able to pursue a substantive academic programme.

The Undergraduate Certificate Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences is a high standard, interdisciplinary, English-taught programme, including education in an international classroom, instruction in small classes, intensive guidance and coaching by staff and faculty concerning both practical and academic issues and an atmosphere which is determined by enthusiasm for study and cultural, intellectual and social involvement. The ISHSS guarantees housing for one year for all international fee-paying students (both degree and non-degree).
