Description: Abroadco's study abroad program in Marburg allows students of all language levels to study German, German culture and history, as well as electives in the arts and sciences at the Philipps-University Marburg. You will go to school and live in a medieval German university town.

Academics

While earning up to 17 credits per semester, students will start their semester with an intensive German language course and a German culture and history course, taught in English. At the end of first eight weeks, students can choose two electives, taught in both English and German, that will round out their academics. And as a student at the Philipps-University Marburg, you will receive an official, accredited transcript at the end of your studies, facilitating credit transfer to your home institution.

Services

Abroadco's excellent student service begins the moment you contact us. We help you with every aspect of planning your experience, including course selection, travel planning, working with your home institution, and providing you with an orientation on living and studying abroad. When you arrive in Frankfurt, our resident director will greet you at the airport and transport you to Marburg, as well as provide onsite orientation during the first few days of your stay. Throughout your program, you'll enjoy Abroadco's many activities and excursions. Activities include visiting Landgrave Castle, explore the Lahn River by canoe or paddle boat, and take in one of Marburg's many cultural events. Excursions visit such destinations as Berlin, Frankfurt, Weimar, Eisenach, as well as enjoying a Rhine River cruise. Once your program has ended, we will continue to work with you as you transfer your credits to your home institution and readjust to life at home.

Housing and Meals

Abroadco housing option for Marburg is single rooms in one of the university's residence halls, with common bathrooms and a kitchen. There are several cafeterias on campus that offer meals at reduced student prices.

Participants Travel to Germany Independently

Scholarships are Available. Abroadco has established a scholarship program for deserving Abroadco participants. Awards for a program typically range from $300 to $600, depending on the length of the program. To be eligible for an Abroadco Scholarship, students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, be accepted into an Abroadco program and enrolled as an undergraduate university student. The scholarship application consists of the application, an essay, and an official transcript. Scholarship deadlines for Fall - April 1, for Spring -ﾖ October 1. In addition to scholarships, students from many U.S. academic institutions are allowed to transfer their financial aid when studying abroad. Abroadco will work with students and academic institutions to facilitate this process.
