India: National Identity and the Arts

  India
    Delhi

Term: Fall, Spring

Description: Explore India's living legacy of an ancient civilization through its ever-changing traditional and contemporary arts community. India presents an unparalleled diversity of religions, languages, and cultures. Its art, architecture, music, theater, and dance offer a dramatic reflection of the nations intricate cultural mosaic.

Based in Delhi, a city with a rich artistic heritage and a lively contemporary arts scene, the program helps students develop an appreciation of India as a center of Asian civilization rather than a stereotypical nation beset by problems of the developing world.

Highlights: Five weeks with a family in Delhi, as well as a short village homestay.
