Venice Studio Arts Program

  Italy
  • Venice:
  • Venice

Term: Fall, Spring
Dates: Mid-September to mid-December; and mid-January to mid-May

Description: The Venice Studio Arts program offers coursework in graphic design or painting in the historically rich artistic center of Venice, Italy. Italian and international students interact in the same classes and visiting artists enrich the creative atmosphere. Every effort is made to integrate the artistic traditions and resources of Venice into the courses.

In addition to regular class meetings, students have access to the studios to work independently or with assistants. Field trips to neighboring cities and visits to local museums, galleries and art sites complement the curriculum. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 18-20 Boston University credits.

Highlights: Scuola Internazionale di Grafica
The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica is an established Italian art institution which brings together an international community of artists, teachers, and students in an exchange of technical and critical ideas in the fine and graphic arts. The Scuola offers courses in printmaking, book-arts, drawing, painting, and graphic design and is dedicated to educating young artists and designers in both established and experimental media. The Scuola provides a fully equipped print-workshop, a painting and drawing studio, and two computer rooms. DSL Internet connections are provided at the Scuola as well as in the students apartments.
