Highlights:
Upon arrival in Perugia, you will meet the Arcadia and Umbra Institute staff; participate in a comprehensive orientation; and move into your housing. You'll be placed in an Italian language course based on your existing proficiency in Italian, so whether you have never taken a course, or speak at an advanced level, your time at the Umbra Institute will be an important opportunity to improve your language skills. All students enrolling in the Arcadia program in Perugia will be expected to attend orientation. At this time, academic contracts are signed, expectations are established, basic cultural differences are explained, and practical matters such as internet access, cell phone service, banking, health and safety, rules of conduct, housing issues and emergency contact information are discussed. During the orientation period, you will also have the opportunity to explore your new home, and adjust to your housing. Your studies will come to life through various field-study excursions to the main cities and cultural centers in the Umbria region, to neighboring regions such as Tuscany, and throughout Italy. Activities and excursions designed to enhance your understanding of the Italian language and culture are planned throughout the semester and academic year.
