An Introduction to Sustainable Development
Belize
Term: Summer
Dates: Please Contact Us for updates
Description:
This course introduces development theory; then it focuses on the essence of sustainable development and four dimensions that are generally considered to be very important: environmental, economic, social, and institutional. It includes a thorough analysis of the criteria and the indicators of sustainable development and their applicability at the international, national and local levels. At the end of the course students should be able to understand the historical context of sustainable development and issues that should be considered by individuals, organizations, and nations as they make business and policy decisions. Belize is in one of the most protected and bio-diverse ecosystems on Earth. As a developing country, it offers rich examples of the importance of sustainable development for emerging issues of globalization, environmental protection, economic growth, poverty reduction and human rights. While you are with us join our Sustainable Development Club (Start Savings Today's Assets and Resources for Tomorrow) whose primary objective is to promote sustainable development through community interaction. Join their events which include clean-up campaigns, educational promotions such as poster contests and a sustainable development fair.
