This program is held at the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences, which is located on the northwest shore of Roatan. RIMS lies within a marine preserve that extends for a mile in each direction and is home to a wide variety of marine life, shorebirds and plants, which are protected from fishing. Roatan is located 30 miles off the north coast of Honduras. It is the largest of the Bay Islands, 39 miles long and two miles wide. Courses are taught by professors from the Biology Department at LMU. In addition there are guest lectures by staff at the Roatan Institute of Marine Sciences on various aspects of dolphin biology.
Highlights:
RIMS students have full access to the recreational services and facilities at Anthony's Key Resort. This includes the dive shop and gear rental, photo store with camera and video rentals and slide processing. In addition, nest to RIMS is the Roatan Museum, which has exhibits on the archeology, geology, and history of the region.
