The Summer Institute on Alcohol, Drugs and Addiction will be held at the International School for Humanities and Social Sciences, Universiteit van Amsterdam. The Summer Institute offers students of various disciplines and professions a great opportunity to advance their knowledge in the field of addiction studies in an international environment. The Summer Institute is an intensive two-week summer programme that seeks to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the study of addiction and to promote opportunities for international networking among participants. The Institute welcomes individuals with a focused interest in addiction research and treatment, Master and PhD students, NGO staff working on addiction-related issues, professionals in human services, practitioners, and advocates. We expect a class of approximately 15-25 students. The Institute's classes are intensive small group seminars with discussions, faculty lectures and guest lectures by prominent people in the field. The scientific director is Helen Levine, and the faculty includes Dennis McCarty, Lala Ashenberg Straussner, and Mirjam Schieveld. Cost Include Description:
The tuition fee does not include travel to and from Amsterdam or housing. The tuition fee for non-credit students is EUR 2000 and for credit students is EUR 2350. The ISHSS mediates for student housing with the student housing corporation. Student apartments are available at approximately Euro 350 for the duration of the programme. Lunch will be provided by the Summer Institute on days when classes meet. Students receive a student ID card good for the length of their stay at the university. This card gives the student access to a variety of student facilities, including the library and computers. Food in the university restaurants is good, cheap and very convenient.
