Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
Term: Fall, Spring
Dates: September - December / February - May
Description:
From its diverse immigrant organization of the late nineteenth century through the populist Peronismo decades to the late twentieth-century military regime in which tens of thousands lost their lives, Argentine history is replete with heroic struggles against impunity, economic disenfranchisement and social exclusion. The twenty-first century continues this pattern; since the country's recent economic crisis, a variety of social movements have worked toward creating new means of achieving economic advancement along with social justice. The vibrant city of Buenos Aires, home to many Argentine activist groups and human rights organizations, will be the program headquarters.
