Enhance your education with a semester or a year in Estonia! International students can study for a semester or a year alongside Estonian students in a range of courses where the language of instruction is English. Most courses can be taken by both Bachelor and Master level students. The University of Tartu offers several semester programs each semester: - Baltic Studies (autumn and spring) **Popular Choice - Prometheus: Transition Studies (autumn and spring) **Popular Choice - Law: Transitional Societies (autumn only) **Popular Choice - Russian Studies (autumn and spring) - Ancient Near Eastern Philology (autumn only) - Ancient Near Eastern Cultures (spring only) OR: Build Your Own Program! Exchange opportunities International students can come to study at the University of Tartu via bilateral, state-signed agreements or other programs (ERASMUS, ISEP etc.) as exchange students. Exchange students are free to select courses from different programs and faculties to compile a study plan that best suits their needs. These courses are free and do not lead to a degree at the University of Tartu, but they are part of the student's degree at his/her home university. Other international students who plan to study at the University of Tartu for up to one year receive a status of visiting students and are expected to pay tuition. Educational requirement: For semester studies we accept students who are currently enrolled at College / University in their home country.
Highlights:
All courses are awarded a certain number of credits in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which makes studies abroad easy to transfer to educational institutions worldwide. Students need to check with their University study abroad advisor prior to arrival how ECTS credits transfer into their national system of credit points. Founded in 1632, the University of Tartu has almost 18 000 students and is famous for research-based education and lively student traditions. Estonia offers a unique perspective on the successful transition to democracy and recent accession to the EU. Tartu is Estonia's second largest city, with 100 000 people, and is located 2.5 hours from the airport and sea port of Tallinn, with connections to major cities in Europe and Russia. English is spoken widely here, and students making one fifth of the population it is a true University town.

Cost Include Description:
*Tuition at the University of Tartu is 1100- 1600 EURO per semester or equivalent on date of paying (appr. 1400-2090 USD). Fees vary by faculty/program and usually cover tuition, course materials and a tutor to assist international students with practical issues like course registration and getting around. Accommodation, meals and living expenses are extra. International students are accommodated in modern dorms in the center of town. Double rooms start at 80 EURO (appr. $120) a month per person. Students also need to plan on spending 150-200 EURO (appr. $200-250) a month on food and basic living expenses in addition to housing costs. Exchange students pay no tuition fees and should check with their home University study abroad advisor for details prior to their arrival to the University of Tartu.
