This program weaves together the study of literature, economic development, an ideologies of social change in Latin America with an innovative approach which combines classroom experience with extensive field work. All classes are taught in Spanish by Latin American faculty with guest lectures by local scholars, activists and community leaders. Field study is an opportunity for students to examine theories they learn in the classroom.
Highlights:
* Field study travel to several regions of Guatemala, including a week-long homestay with an indigenous family in the Lake Atitlan area. * Family homestay in Guatemala City. * Program ends with one week of field study in Puerto Rico for a comparative perspective.
