Description:
ISA programs in Lima, Peru, are all-inclusive (with the exception of airfare). Program participants study at the University of the Pacific or the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, both of which are accredited and issue all transcripts. Semester, Year, and Summer programs are available and include "Latin American Studies and Economics," "Spanish Language and Culture," and "Courses with Peruvian Students." Semester/Year programs give students the opportunity to enroll in courses with Peruvian students. Peru is a modernized country enlivened by its rich indigenous history and archaeological treasures. Lima, the capital of Peru, is situated on the west coast of the southern Pacific Ocean, along the outlet of the RiĀmac River. The city of Lima is full of fascinating contrasts between traditional and modern influences. Lima residents often meet at penas (bars offering folk and Creole music), shop at the open marketplaces full of fresh fruits, and gather in plazas to socialize. South of Lima, long white beaches stretch along the Pacific Ocean and are backed by huge, white sand dunes. Lima's importance as the capital city of Peru and its idyllic location along the Pacific coast provide an exceptional site for students to improve their Spanish and learn about Peruvian culture.
