Swinburne Study Abroad Program
Australia
Term: Throughout the year
Dates: Semester 1: Feb - June, Semester 2: July - Nov
Description:
Are you looking to spend a semester or two in Australia? Do you want easy access to the heart of Melbourne - one of the world's most liveable cities? If you answered yes to either question then Swinburne is the destination for you. Swinburne University of Technology Study Abroad Program offers students the chance to study for one or two semesters in three campuses throughout the greater Melbourne area. The Hawthorn and Prahran campuses are situated in the inner-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, just a short train or tram ride from the central business district. The Lilydale campus is a short 45 minute train ride east of the city. As a Study Abroad student you have the opportunity to choose subjects from a range of disciplines depending on your interests. The academic areas available at Swinburne include Arts, Psychology, Social Sciences, Business, Entrepreneurship, Management, Design, Engineering, Information Technology, Multimedia and Sciences. As a Study Abroad student you will take part in a tailored Education Abroad Orientation session to help prepare you for your time here. You will then join the wider student body for more Orientation events; we want you to be a part of the Swinburne student community. Throughout your time at Swinburne University you will have access to a great student support network including sporting, computer, library and student services (including counselling) facilities. You will have the opportunity to get involved on campus by joining Australian students in the various clubs and societies on campus. Swinburne Abroad organises optional excursions as part of your study abroad experience including day-trips to the Great Ocean Road, a wildlife sanctuary so you can get up close to the unique Austrian animals, a trip to catch an Aussie Rules Football Match and more. The Swinburne Study Abroad program is designed for students currently studying at an overseas institution. All students should have a good academic history and be proficient in English.

Swinburne University of Technology's Mission Statement: Being a student at Swinburne is not just about coming away with a piece of paper and a list of results. It's about getting real experience through our practical courses.
Students study in small classes and have the advantage of learning in a caring study environment with exceptional access to teachers and innovative learning resources. At Swinburne we care about our students' success and help them build entrepreneurial skills for life. Students can access a wide range of support services at all our campuses to assist them in every aspect of student life. We encourage our students to develop thinking that is creative, innovative, forward-looking and entrepreneurial. This entrepreneurial focus extends throughout all our activities, from learning and teaching to research and the commercialisation of ideas.
At Swinburne we don't teach students what to think, rather how to think and how to get out and make things happen. We want our students to be self-sufficient and resourceful. Globalisation and internationalisation are the buzzwords that are a reality at Swinburne, and students are encouraged to spread their wings and prosper.
