Term: Summer
Dates: June - August

Description: Summer is the perfect time to try something new and challenging. IFSA-Butler can help you find the ideal overseas environment: one that challenges you to make new discoveries, meet new friends, and explore outstanding academics that earn you American transfer credits. All of our summer programs are based at an overseas university and taught by regular university staff, so we can guarantee the high quality of our programs. IFSA-Butler offers four outstanding summer study programs at James Cook University, the University of Melbourne, the University of New South Wales and the University of Queensland. While some summer courses are open to Australian students, the majority of participants are American and other international students.

Highlights:
University of Melbourne:

The July program at Melbourne is designed to immerse students in Australian culture and society. The university's Faculty of Arts teaches all July courses and will provide a fascinating overview of Australian literature, politics, history, and culture. The program begins with a one-day orientation in Sydney, followed by a two-day orientation at the university.

James Cook University:

The Underwater Photography and Videography summer program at James Cook University immerses students in a unique, hands-on learning environment. The intensive courses focus on theoretical and practical knowledge of underwater photography and videography, with extensive fieldwork on the Great Barrier Reef.

University of New South Wales:

In this summer program, you'll spend the first two weeks at the northern edge of Australia in Darwin, Northern Territory, where you'll venture out on a four-day camping trip into Kakadu National Park. The trip will include a visit with an indigenous community, which will give a hands-on experience of Australian history and culture. After these travels, you'll settle in at the University of New South Wales campus for three weeks. For the final week of the program, students head north to tropical Cairns near the Great Barrier Reef and lush rainforests.

University of Queensland:

The Great Barrier Reef study program offer students an opportunity to spend the summer in a hands-on research environment in one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The summer session takes place at the Heron Islands Research Station at southern Great Barrier Reef or the Moreton Bay Research Station and Study Center at North Stradbroke Island, two of the most productive and prestigious marine research station in Australia.
