Just outside of London lies the self-contained campus of Royal Holloway. Part of the University of London, the beautiful campus offers not just outstanding academics, but a friendly, welcoming location within easy reach of central London. Anchored by the spectacular Founder's Building, Royal Holloway is home to modern buildings and research institutes as well as Victorian charm. Central London is only about forty minutes by train, while Windsor and Richmond are twenty minutes by train or bus. London's Heathrow Airport is seven miles away, making it easy to visit other parts of Europe.

The long history of university education in the United Kingdom dates back to the foundation of Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the mid 13th century. Students who attend university in the U.K. have the opportunity to mix with international students from every country on earth who came to the U.K. to experience the same scholastic prestige. The academic year in the United Kingdom runs along roughly the same guidelines as the American academic year. It begins in late September and ends in mid-June. Teaching terms usually consist of three ten-week periods separated by two four-week breaks, but increasing numbers of universities have switched over to the semester system.
