The coast in and around La Libertad is blessed with a rare combination of wind, current and shore that makes the waves just so perfect. There is classic 1000 yard ride from La Libertad into the beach. Reputed to be the best surfing in Central America La Libertad is not to be missed! We offer Spanish language instruction at all levels, and our basic lesson plan consists of twenty hours of study a week, four hours day. You can begin on any Monday, and will be given a placement exam upon your arrival to determine your level of instruction. Our class size is limited to 8 students. We also offer one-on-one Spanish classes College credit is generally available through your home institution. We issue grade transcripts and written evaluations and have had students from UC Davis, SUNY Stonybrook, and other universities. We are a unique program in that we offer students the option of studying in surf and beach location of La Libertad, in the coffee country of Santa Ana, or tin the capitol, San Salvador. You can study at one, two, or all three locations which allows you to really get to know the country. You can study a day, a week, or enroll in our full academic semester or summer program. We also offer three excursions per week to Mayan ruins, waterfalls, a highland coffee village, volcanoes, and museums. Flexible scheduling options are available, and discounts are available for groups.
Highlights:
What better than an excellent Spanish School, with some fo the best surf breaks in the world on your doorstep! And there is so much more... El Salvador for tourism it is the Saviour. Undeveloped, real, and barely touched by tourism. 10 years ago tourism was the last thing on the mind of El Salvadors people as they tried to escape the bullets of a civil war. Now & 10 years of peace and a nation on the road to recovery means that now is the time to visit before it is spoilt by mass tourism. El Salvador does not lack for natural splendour, smoking volcanoes, Montecristo rain forests and its black sand beaches with some of the best surf waves in Central America, means that surfers have found the country & but few others. Our Three schools are located in La Libertad, Santa Ana, and in the capitol, San Salvador. San Salvador, the capital has five markets; the most interesting are the Mercado Ex-Cuartel for handicrafts, hand-woven textiles and ceramics, and the Mercado Central for daily needs. Santa Ana is a city of 500,000 and is surrounded by green rolling hills and mountains, that make it idea for coffee growing. La Libertad is only an hour from La Libertad and is a small seaside town ... with its famed surfing beaches! Other major attraction for El Salvador include: Montecristo Cloud Forest The borders of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala converge in an area that receives 200cm (80in) of annual precipitation, experiences 100% humidity and rises to an elevation of 2400m (7900ft) - ideal conditions for the Montecristo cloud forest. Oak and laurel trees grow to 30m (98ft), and their leaves form a canopy impenetrable to sunlight. Ferns, orchids, mushrooms and mosses coat the forest floor, and the local wildlife includes rare and protected spider monkeys, two-fingered anteaters, pumas, agoutis, toucans and striped owls. Ruinas de Tazumal The Mayan ruins of Tazumal, considered the most important and best preserved in El Salvador, are in the town of Chalchuapa. In the Quich language the name Tazumal means 'pyramid where the victims were burned'. The excavated ruins on display here are only one part of a zone covering 10 sq km (4 sq mi), much of it buried under the town. Archaeologists estimate that the first settlements in the area were around 5000 BC. The excavated structures date from a period spanning over 1000 years. The artifacts found at Tazumal provide evidence of ancient and active trade between Tazumal and places as far away as Panama and Mexico. Courses: Spanish and Surf: Starts every Monday.
