Description:
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Ethnic Minority Cultures Program, located at South Central University for Nationalities (SCUN) in Wuhan, China, provides students with a living and learning experience in "real" China. The On-Site Program Coordinator for the Ethnic Minority Cultures Program arranges academic excursions, teaches a Cross-Cultural Understanding course, and provides general support to participants. All students will take the following courses: Ethnic Minority Cultures of China (4 credits), Contemporary China (3 credits), Chinese History and Culture (3 credits), Practical Chinese (4 credits), and Cross-Cultural Understanding (1 credit). Coursework will be conducted in English by SCUN faculty with the exception of the Cross-Cultural Understanding course. Students will also be assigned local students as language partners to assist them in their language leaning. Educational Excursions are an integral part of the Ethnic Minority Cultures Program. The program includes two weeks of field excursions to locations such as: Feng Huang (Phoenix) Huai Hua, Xi'an and Beijing.
Highlights:
Coursework is taught in English. Educational excursions to Xian, Feng Huang, (Phoenix), and Huai Hua included in the program cost.

The Institute for Study Abroad Programs adheres to the NAFSA: AIE Code of Ethics and Statements of Principles in International Educational Exchange and also supports the "Responsible Study Abroad: Health and Safety Guidelines" developed by the Interorganizational Task Force on Safety and Responsibility in Study Abroad.
