England
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer
Description:
Spend a semester in Cambridge where you can study topics that include international relations, business, economics, political economy, geopolitics, history, and English literature. The INSTEP Cambridge program is designed to provide you with small and interactive seminars taught by world class British faculty. The seminars below will have no more than 12 students and the supervisions will have no more than 4 students enrolled in them giving you a very personalized and specialized academic experience. While studying in Cambridge you may also elect to apply for one of a small number of specialized internships in applied economic or business research. During the semester, you must register for a full credit load, which allows you to choose between registering for five seminars/supervisions or three seminars/supervisions and an internship. Either way, you will receive 15 semester credits after successfully completing the semester.
Highlights:
Cambridge is an ancient university town 55 miles north of London. The University has become so literally part of the town that a defined "campus" is difficult to find. There is a complex of older buildings known as the "old Schools," but the buildings of the University's colleges are spread throughout the town's picturesque 15th century streets. These roads and narrow lanes wind alongside the river Cam and amongst the attractive grounds and gardens known as the Backs. The population of Cambridge is over 120,000, but grows to about 140,000 during term time with the students. Cambridge is a lively, elegant town that offers many social, cultural, and sporting opportunities to students attending the INSTEP programs. Libraries, galleries and museums, the historic commons (parkland), and the river, where traditional punts can be hired, are all within walking distance of the INSTEP housing. As an INSTEP Cambridge student, you will live near the city center and the various colleges of the University. There are 32 Cambridge colleges, each with its own distinct history and architecture. The oldest of these was founded over seven centuries ago; the youngest college has only been in existence for three decades. You will also be within easy walking distance to nearly everything the town has to offer: student venues, societies and pubs, the outdoor market, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the Art Picturehouse cinema, theatres and concert venues, and the shopping complex including a new multiplex movie theatre.

INSTEP's Mission Statement: The Institute of Economic and Political Studies (INSTEP) is an independent organization established in 1979 on the principle that North American undergraduates could benefit from an intensive, individualized semester study abroad experience featuring a scholarly, European perspective on economics, politics, law and international relations.
The Institute of Economic and Political Studies (INSTEP) is characterized by a distinguished teaching faculty who provide a challenging educational environment for a small number of students. Students may also participate in an internship experience to round out the professional aspect of the social science or humanities degree. This combination of course options and internship opportunities has appealed to some 4,000 participants from many prestigious North American institutions since the program's inception.
INSTEP has dedicated offices and program staff in London and Cambridge and guarantees student housing in both centers as well as access to libraries and computing facilities.
