You will study at the Pontifica Universidad Catolica, one of the most prestigious and respected universities in Rio. The summer program is dedicated to Portuguese for Foreigners language studies only. The Department of Letters offers language courses at five levels, from Beginner to Advanced. A mandatory Portuguese language placement test indicates the appropriate level for each student. If you haven't studied Portuguese but can speak Spanish with at least average fluency, you can be accepted into the Intensive Pre-term Portuguese for Foreigners Course.

Credits Six undergraduate credits may be earned per semester. For further questions please contact the Center for International Programs at SUNY New Paltz. Qualifications Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Housing Family housing guarantees a true Brazilian experience to the international student. Most of the host families live near the University. Prices range from $300-$350 per month for a private bedroom with breakfast. Students pay the host family directly. Inexpensive city bus lines make it easy to get to campus.
