The Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad can help you achieve an incomparable study abroad experience. Literature in Scotland offers two, three-week sessions that explore modern British literature from 1900-1945 and 1945 to the present. The program is operated by Scottish Universities' International Summer School (SUISS) and is based at the University of Edinburgh. Credits Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit. * summer semester: 3 credits each. Admission Requirements GPA Requirements: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. You are required to submit a second academic reference. At least one reference should be from an English faculty member. Please download the R-Form or you may have your reference send a letter on the letterhead of his/her institution. You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.
Highlights:
The program features lectures by leading novelists, poets, literary critics, and historians who discuss the social, historical and theoretical influences that have impacted modern British literature. The program is also enriched by a rich variety of extracurricular programs that include readings by leading Scottish writers, discussions on the arts and architecture, and participation in traditional Scottish folk singing and storytelling.
