The Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad can help you achieve an incomparable study abroad experience at the University of Wales Swansea, an institution that offers a wide variety of subject offerings on a campus that sits amid a magnificent seaside setting. You can select from the University's wide choice of courses and study alongside British students. Located on the southwest coast of Wales and at one end of the sweeping Bay of Swansea, the Swansea University offers you a wonderful seaside playground with a flexible and comprehensive academic program. The campus is modern and compact and right on the coast. With unspoiled, golden beaches, picturesque villages, numerous coastal trails and a university with strengths in math and the sciences, Swansea is a natural choice. All students are required to enroll in a special pre-session program that focuses on contemporary British politics, culture, and society. Through lectures, seminars, contemporary texts, and films, you'll explore the forces that have influenced British society since 1945. Field-study trips to the Museum of Welsh Life, Cardiff Castle, and Dylan Thomas' house will help to illuminate your studies. You will be required to complete a 1,500-word paper or examination when the course ends. Credits: Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit. * Fall semester: 12 credits. * Spring semester: 15-18 credits. * Academic year: 30 credits. Admission Requirements GPA Requirements: 2.8 or better on a 4.0 scale. You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.

Before you go, you can contact our program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our resident director will lead an orientation program in London that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of England and Wales as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system. During the semester, you can expect to participate in excursions that are designed to allow you to reflect on the learning that is taking place outside the classroom. It's almost impossible to explain in words the educational and cultural experience that study abroad can be, but you can be sure that Arcadia is there to help you get the most out of that experience.
