Highlights:
AUIP Africa is designed for active learning, emphasizing hands-on interaction with natural surroundings and local communities. You will interact directly with wildlife managers, conservationists, and field researchers, who will share their expertise and guide you on excursions. No other program provides for such in-depth exploration of the extensive and fascinating wildlife, ecosystems, and cultures of South Africa. During your three-week expedition, you will learn about: * Wildlife Management Techniques * Sustainable Resource Utilization * Conservation of Ecosystems and Biodiversity * Reserve and Resort Management * Local African Cultures and Perspectives on Conservation * Principles of African Tourism and Historical Site Preservation The exceptional academic quality of the AUIP Africa program results from a collaboration between AUIP and dedicated local professionals. AUIP works in partnership with EcoLife Expeditions, an extension of the Centre for Wildlife Management at the University of Pretoria, to ensure a rigorous and stimulating academic experience. For five years, EcoLife Expeditions has been conducting specialized, short-term field study programs for international students. You will definitely need to bring your sleeping bag, since any authentic safari experience calls for adaptation to the natural environment and local culture. Leave the rest to us, as we will provide all necessary camping equipment, including comfortable two-person tents and mattresses. Our nightly stops range from campsites with full amenities to rustic sites in remote areas. While in the game reserves, we will stay in huts, chalets, or safari-style tents. Our accommodations allow us to foster cooperation and teamwork among the group and provide for maximum mobility, efficiency, and proximity to sites of interest. While on safari, we will travel in a Mercedes Benz Safarimobile, complete with spacious, comfortable seating, huge windows for game viewing, and personal lockers. This vehicle is specially designed for group safari adventures, and it takes off-roading to new heights.
