Description: Spend a semester in exotic Chennai, India at one of the country's top universities! The University of Madras, located in the cultural heart of south India, is a 'five star' instiution and has produced past Indian Presidents and Nobel Prize winners.

India embodies everything that is exotic. It is a country that combines better than any other a respect for its past and a thirst for the new, where a woman in a sari might be a cutting-edge engineer, where Hollywood is overshadowed by Bollywood. Studying at the University of Madras will give you a chance to experience this culture first hand. Here you can study the history of South Indian dance or the issues of nuclear proliferation, Indian English literature or business administration.

Even through its struggles with poverty, India has always stressed education. The University of Madras is one of the 3 oldest universities in India and one of the most respected. Classes are taught in English, so you will have virtually the entire curriculum at your disposal. You will be completely integrated into the culture, this is not one of those island programs that segregate you from the local student population.
