The experience of studying at the University of Sydney can best be characterized by its buildings and campuses. Ivy-covered sandstone buildings that reflect Australia's colonial heritage combined with modern architecture that reflects the countries high tech and multicultural future all located on the fringe of Sydney's Central Business District paint a picture of a vibrant and historic institution. The courses available represent this same mix of traditional and modern. Cutting edge research in the natural sciences, classics, history, and Australian Studies are just a few of the options available to you. A Conservatorium of Music and School of Art add to the comprehensive nature of the institution which enrolls more than 40,000 students. Because of the size and location of the University, on-campus accommodation is at a premium. You can apply to live in residential colleges, but most students choose to live in Arcadia housing in student-oriented neighborhoods which surround the university. Credits Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit. * Fall and spring semester: 16 credits. * Academic year: 32 credits. Admission Requirements GPA Requirements: 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.

Before you go, you can contact our program coordinator for advice on the application process, choosing courses, or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our Australia staff will lead an orientation program along the Mornington Peninsula and in Melbourne that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of Australia as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system. During the semester, Arcadia's staff will plan excursions and activities designed to expand your understanding of Australian culture and help you integrate into university life.
