Duke University-Duke Study in China: Summer

Dates: Mid-June - Mid-August 2009
Description:
Duke University will offer its 28th annual study program in Beijing in 2009. The summer term, mid-June through mid-August, offers a nine-week intensive Chinese language program, earning the equivalent of two semesters of course credit. Language classes are taught by faculty who are selected by the Duke Study in China program. Experienced faculty from Duke University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Wesleyan University will coordinate the program. Participants go on excursions to local places of interest on weekends and there is a mid-program long-weekend trip. A host family option is available for students with at least two years of Chinese study. Other program features include a language pledge, small classes, weekly Chinese table, and extra curricular activities. Applications are welcome from degree-seeking students at all accredited colleges and universities in the United States and Canada who have completed a minimum of one year of Chinese language study by the commencement of the program. Cost Include Description:
The cost of the program covers tuition, course materials (including textbooks), extracurricular activities, mid-semester travel, weekend excursions, meals, and lodging in China.
