Description: Established in 1972 the University of Limerick on the Plassey estate just three miles from the city, quickly gained a reputation among Irish universities for innovation in the design and delivery of its courses, excellent academic courses and relevance to the needs of the developing Irish economy. The University has become a focus for a wide range of artistic activity and is home to some fine collections of Irish Art, the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Irish World Music Centre.

Study Abroad students are fully integrated into the student body, following the same lectures, seminars, tutorials and taking the same assessments as Irish and other International students. The initial orientation program provides acclimatization to Irish life and UL procedures. The University operates semester, modular system.

Highlights: Limerick is a vibrant city of considerable historic and literary interest. Founded as a Viking fortress in the 10th century, it is Ireland's oldest chartered city. Limerick lies at the heart of the Shannon Region in Ireland's mid-west, a region which offers spectacular landscape, heritage attractions, leisure activities and cultural pursuits.

The compact nature of the campus and the university's size foster a close sense of community. The university believes strongly that the creation of a friendly, caring and co-operative atmosphere is an important factor in the successful pursuit of a program of study. The comprehensive range of sport and recreation programs and facilities places emphasis on achieving a balance between academic imperatives and a healthy lifestyle.

The University offers accommodation in residential villages. Individual two-story terraced houses of 6/8 bedrooms are arranged in landscaped courtyards in an attractive village style. Each house offers single study-bedrooms, a large kitchen/living-room, two bathroom facilities, telephone and cable TV. Computer link-up from individual study-bedrooms to the university network can be provided on request.
