Description:
The University of Wollongong, established in 1951, is now a medium-sized university by Australian standards. More than 13,000 students, including 2,400 international students from 70 countries attend the vibrant, thinking university. Wollongong, the ninth largest city in Australia, is located on the New South Wales south coast, just over one hour from the Sydney central business district by train or car. As the center of the Illawarra region, the city of Wollongong has a spectacular location bordered by a rainforest-covered escarpment and the Pacific Ocean. The main University of Wollongong campus is located in Gwynneville at the base of Mt. Keira, adjacent to the Wollongong Botanic Garden and only minutes from the shopping district and cafys in the city center. The campus has an abundance of green spaces, ponds, waterfalls and birdlife. Students can enroll in nine different academic faculties: Arts, Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Informatics, Law and Science. The University is home to several research institutes, including smart foods, telecommunications, molecular recognition, environmental and steel processing and products.
Highlights:
The Study Australia program includes a 5-day group orientation (for most of our sites), guaranteed, fully furnished and prearranged housing for your entire stay abroad, a Resident Director, and more. Study Australia offers students the chance to travel throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji before heading to their host campus. These optional trips provide the comfort of a group atmosphere along with trained guides from highly reputable tour providers that specialize in student travel. Fall Semester participants can choose between two tour options. Bond University participants may join Study Australia on a 4-day Fiji Island Adventure. Other Fall semester participants can explore the Great Barrier Reef and Tropical North Queensland. Spring Semester participants can participate on three additional pre-semester trips. Students can explore the natural wonders and extreme activities on a 7-day venture through the South Island of New Zealand. Surf through a 6-day trip from Sydney to Byron Bay stopping at some of the most pristine beaches in Australia. Explore Tropical Far North Queensland and the city of Cairns, where the reef meets the rainforest, on this 7-day trip.
