Description:
With enrollment of over 34,000 students including over 6,500 international students from over 90 different countries, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) enjoys the reputation of Australia's leading international university with the largest on-campus enrolment of international students. UNSW is a modern, urban campus on 85 acres, located in the vibrant area of Kensington, near Sydney's eastern suburbs. The downtown business district and Sydney Harbor are only 20 minutes by bus (3 miles), and Coogee Beach, affectionately known as Sydney's seaside village, is a mere 5 minutes away. Coogee Beach has an abundance of casual restaurants, pubs, cafes and beach access. Study Australia offers students the chance to travel throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji before heading to their host campus. These optional trips provide the comfort of a group atmosphere along with trained guides from highly reputable tour providers that specialize in student travel. Fall Semester participants can choose between two tour options. Bond University participants may join Study Australia on a 4-day Fiji Island Adventure. Other Fall semester participants can explore the Great Barrier Reef and Tropical North Queensland. Spring Semester participants can participate on three additional pre-semester trips. Students can explore the natural wonders and extreme activities on a 7-day venture through the South Island of New Zealand. Surf through a 6-day trip from Sydney to Byron Bay stopping at some of the most pristine beaches in Australia. Explore Tropical Far North Queensland and the city of Cairns, where the reef meets the rainforest, on this 7-day trip.
Highlights:
The Study Australia program includes a 5-day group orientation (for most of our sites), guaranteed, fully furnished, and prearranged housing for your entire stay abroad, a Resident Director and much more. UNSW was founded in 1949 and is one of Australia's largest institutions, with more than 75 schools in 9 faculties and 80 institutes and centers for research and teaching. It is distinguished by its pre-eminence in both teaching and research; flexible course structures and interdisciplinary studies; close association with commerce and industry in research and course design; and specialization in studies relating to the Asia-Pacific region, including a wide range of Asian languages. Additionally, UNSW is the leading center for studies in commerce, economics and law; offers extensive science, technology, built environment, environment and engineering-based courses; and is the home of the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), with an additional campus in Sydney's arts district offering studio classes in fine arts. More than 200 University clubs and societies are available, covering, sporting, cultural, social, religious, intellectual and hobby interests, and you have numerous on-campus entertainment options in the form of plays, films, concerts and other cultural events. Study-abroad students may select from an extensive multidisciplinary listing of subjects and attend regular classes with Australian students. Study Australia participants attending UNSW may undertake a pre-session credit program in marine science located on a Great Barrier Reef island and the Open Program at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts.
