Edinburgh Napier University is named after the famous sixteenth century mathematician and inventor of logarithms, John Napier, and was founded in 1964, achieving University status in 1992. In just three decades it has progressed from a first-class polytechnic to a major Scottish university with a growing international profile. We are now one of the largest universities in Scotland with over 14,000 students and offer bachelor and graduate degree programmes, as well as semester or full year Study Abroad opportunities. Students can study a range of courses within three faculties: Napier University Business School; Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries; Faculty of Health, Life and Social Sciences. Edinburgh Napier is a multi-campus university. There are three main sites near the city centre - Merchiston, Craighouse and Craiglockhart. Edinburgh Napier is a vibrant, modern university with a diverse and exciting range of programmes. Edinburgh is one of the most student-friendly cities in the UK. It's a green and open city. It is also compact and walkable with an excellent public transport network. It is an ideal centre from which to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Highlands and islands of Scotland. Edinburgh is also seen as the gateway to Europe - located only one hour by air and just over four hours by rail from London. It is easy to understand why Edinburgh is so popular with students from all over the world.

Study Abroad at Edinburgh Napier works through our customized degree framework, providing flexible study opportunities and a comprehensive student support service. The university offers an extremely flexible modular study system which allows you choose a range of courses to suit individual programmes of study required by your home university. Credit for modules studied at Napier is transferred directly back to your home university. Students can choose from a range of subject areas including: Accounting and Financial Services; Built Environment and Civil Engineering; Business, Management and Law; Creative Industries (Communication, Publishing, Advertising, Film/Photography, Graphic Design etc.); Engineering; Life Sciences; Social Sciences; Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management. Napier provides a comprehensive induction (academic and social) programme for all Study Abroad students.

We accept Sophomore, Junior and Senior year bachelor students who have at least a 2.5 GPA. Please note that some of our classes may require pre-requisite study in that area. Please contact the study abroad advisor for further information.
