England
- North West England:
Manchester
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: Academic Year/Fall Semester/Spring Semester
Description:
The University of Manchester is one of Britain's most famous civic universities with a rich heritage of cutting-edge innovation and enterprise stretching back more than 175 years. It is the largest university in the UK and has more subjects than any other single site university in Britain. More than 35,000 students from 180 nations study at the University each year, and the vibrant campus and energy of the surrounding city creates an exciting place to live, study and explore. The University is regarded as one of the country's top institutions for both teaching and research. Situated in the North West of England, Manchester lies at the centre of an excellent air, road and rail network. The city combines the grandeur of its Victorian architectural and business heritage with the vigour and excitement of an international metropolis which has one of the largest student populations in Europe and a flourishing theatre, arts and music scene. University housing in single study bedrooms is normally guaranteed to all year-long and semester students. Housing ranges from halls with meal plans to modern self-catering apartments, some with individual private bathroom facilities. The campus has its own art gallery, museum and theatre and there is extensive provision for all types of sporting activities.
Highlights:
Students undertaking their period of study abroad can select courses from faculties and schools across the institution, depending on whether they wish to follow a specific major or fulfil their general education requirements. Students can undertake study for a full academic year or a single semester. There is an option for non-native English speakers to undertake a period of intensive English Language study before commencement of their main academic programme.
