Description:
The students will examine the Mayan communities resistance to change and explore alternatives for the region. Students will use texts and interactions with local people to evaluate the effects of development on environmental and community structures.
Highlights:
Field projects aimed at sustaining and preserving the fragile environment may include diving with an archeologist, planting reeds with Mayan farmers, working with a team to assess the impact of 'Green Revolution' technology on the environment, or other hands on experiences.
