Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus
Spain
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer
Description:
Over 200 courses in a wide variety of disciplines taught in English and Spanish are offered each semester (more than 45 each summer session!) at Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus, the premier American Jesuit university in Spain.
Highlights:
The Madrid Campus course offerings, taught by over 100 faculty members fulfill degree requirements for 85 undergraduate majors available through Saint Louis University. This variety permits study abroad students to design their own programs; it also makes the study abroad experience available to students pursuing degrees for which it is not always an option--engineering or nursing, for example. Since the Madrid campus is home to 650 students from across Spain and around the world, the language of instruction for most classes is English, although opportunities abound for students desiring immersion in Spanish language and culture. The campus sponsors a wide range of extracurricular activities, both on and off campus, including trips that deepen students cultural understanding of Spain or that complement their studies by bringing them to other destinations, including major European cities, Africa and South America. All courses and programs offered are fully accredited in both the U.S. and Madrid. Saint Louis University Madrid Campus is located in the university area of Madrid, on the northwest side of the city, with superb metro (subway) and bus access to the entire urban area. The center of the city is barely a 30-minute walk away. The campus is comprised of four buildings, which house its classrooms, library, science and computer labs, art studio, music practice rooms, cafeteria, student center, and faculty and staff offices. Most visiting students choose to live with Spanish host families, though housing in shared apartments or in nearby colegio mayores (dormitories for students attending Spanish universities) is also available.
